Dubai Desert Classic: Alexander Bjork

Finding best form again; runner-up in the DP World Tour at the end of 2021 and was bang there entering the back-9 on Sunday in Abu Dhabi. Course record of 6-20-45-35 reads well.

Alexander Bjork doesn’t fit my usual profile of finding in-form ball-strikers and waiting them to hole some puts. Statistically you wouldn’t give Bjork a chance at Emirates GC yet his course record is 6-20-45-35 and he tends to play well in the Gulf swing.

His career stalled after his maiden European Tour win in 2018 but he finished last year with a second place at the DP World Tour and that form hasn’t disappeared despite the change in calendars.

Bjork with in contention going into the back-9 in Abu Dhabi and although he fell away to finish T20; he was competitive for a long way. That desire to win can sometimes cost shots and placings, so if anything his result deserve a little upgrade.

At 80/1 he looks a good bet with William Hill paying 8 places at 1/5 odds.
