Mullinax The Real Deal
Led the field in driving distance and GIRs last week but couldn’t make anything on the greens for three days.
Having backed Trey Mullinax at fancy prices only a couple of weeks ago I pondered whether he was value at 45/1 but his performance in Utah confirms that he is the real deal.
The 23-year-old is currently eight in the Web.com Tour’s all-around ranking and has finished T14-T4-T11 in his last three starts.
Last week he finished T11 at the Utah Championships but three rounds in the 70s curtailed his chances. Tee-to-green he was virtually faultless, he led the field in driving distance and GIRs but couldn’t make anything on the greens.
Mullinax finished the week 63rd in putts per GIR but his second-round 62, showed what he is capable off when the putter heats up.
It’s not too late for Mullinax to make a late charge into the top-25 of the money list and this precocious talent can win soon at 45/1 (Coral).
