Digital Ally Open Tip: Charlie Saxon
Talented youngster who won twice on the PGA Tour China in 2016. Made his Web.com debut at this event last year finishing T31.
Charlie Saxon isn’t a golfing name many people would have heard of but that is likely to change very quickly. In his first season as a professional he won twice on the PGA Tour China, finishing second on the money list and thus gaining status for the Web.com Tour.
His progress has seemingly slowed down in 2017 but he began the year on the sidelines after surgery on a hip injury and it’s taken a while for him to find his best form.
A big hitter of the ball (9th in driving distance) he also ranks 26th in putting average and 10th in birdie average. The 24-year-old has a modern game, hit it long and make plenty of putts, not dissimilar to the likes of Trey Mullinax and Grayson Murray both of whom won on the Web.com Tour last season.
The Nicklaus Golf Club is one of the few courses on tour he’s played before, finishing T31 on what was his Web.com debut. His results might not show it but this young talent could be set for a strong finish to the season.
