Deutsche Bank Championship Tips: Charl Schwartzel
Should be winning more regularly on the PGA Tour but seventh place in the all-around rankings suggests there isn’t much wrong with his game.
Amazingly, Charl Schwartzel is looking for his first PGA Tour win since the 2011 US Masters. I say that in a slightly surprised manner because the quality of his golf is consistently high.
The last five winners of the Deutsche Bank Championship were in the top-10 of the PGA Tour’s all-around ranking and Schwartzel fits the bill as he currently occupies seventh place.
The South African has five top-10s this season with a recent T4 at the WGC-Bridgestone his highest Stateside finish.
Schwartzel finished T22 at TPC Boston last year but a top-10 went begging after he could only muster a level-par final round.
I expect Schwartzel to return to the winners’ enclosure sooner rather than later and he is overpriced at 40/1 (William Hill).
