DAP Championship Tip: Trey Mullinax

DAP Championship Tip: Trey Mullinax

Finished T13 last year but was right in the mix with 18 holes to go. Good tee-to-green last week just couldn't buy a putt.

Opportunities for Trey Mullinax (and us) are running out this season and with only two events left on the Web.com Tour he has to make his move now.

The 25-year-old spent more of last week down amongst the lower reaches of the leaderboard at the Boise Open but he played better than he scored. At the close of round three he was T45 on five-under but lead the field in driving distance, was T15 in driving accuracy and T3 in GIRs. That is a strong ball-striking week let down by putting.

Canterbury Golf Club, host of the DAP Championship places a premium on excellence tee-to-green. Last year’s winning score was 7-under and it was an event Mullinax could have won. He started the final round in fourth on five-under but a double bogey on his opening hole on Sunday ended his charge before it had even started. With that experience under his belt this could be the week he rights the wrongs.
