DAP Championship Tip: Denny McCarthy

Hasn't finished worse than 40th in last five starts, majority coming on PGA Tour. Drops down in grade to regain card but been in this scenario before. Record at Canterbury GC is 63-17.

The Web.com Tour Finals continue with the DAP Championship, and Canterbury Golf Club provides a stiff test for the mixture of Web.com and PGA Tour players battling for their cards. The last two editions have been won in 7-under and 8 -under and just finishing under-par would have been good enough for top-25 finishes in both years.

Canterbury GC is a tough track but not necessarily one for the bombers. Nicholas Lindheim won twelve months ago, and the top of the leaderboard was littered with moderate hitters like Rob Oppenheim, Martin Piller and Zac Blair.

Denny McCarthy isn’t the longest either but he’s hit some good form and although he couldn’t convert at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship he still finished a creditable 5th. That means in his last five starts he’s finished 39-34-36-36-5.

A regular on the Web.com Tour in 2016 and 2017, McCarthy knows what to expect and has finished T63-T17 at the DAP Championship previously.
