Czech Masters Tip: Callum Shinkwin

Showed signs of a revival at the European Open where he drove the ball superbly. Finished T9 here last year having got into contention on the back-9 on Sunday.

Twelve months ago Haydn Porteous powered his way to victory around the Albatross Golf Resort and another big-hitter can follow in his footsteps.

Callum Shinkwin finished T9 last year but was in contention heading into the back-nine on Sunday until three bogeys in his final eight holes dropped him down the leaderboard. In three visits to the course he has finished MC-51-9 and to steal a Tiger Woods quote, he is trending.

The summer hasn’t been great for the Englishman. It started with a T8 in Italy but three missed cuts and a withdrawal followed. He arrested the slide with a T48 at the European Open on a course that doesn’t suit his game. Despite this he ranked inside the top-10 for driving distance and driving accuracy, good news for a player who is long but often wayward.
