Fort Worth Invitational Tip: Emiliano Grillo

Still elite tee-to-green but putting is much improved this season. Has made his last 18 cuts and was well placed before falling back on Sunday at Colonial last year.

For the last couple of years Emiliano Grillo’s career has plateaued, he is without a win since the Frys.com Open in October 2015 and has dropped outside the world’s top-50, however the signs are he’s ready to kick-on again.

The 25-year-old has made his last 18 cuts with recent top-10s at the Houston Open and Wells Fargo Championship. Always an elite ball-striker, he’s up to 24th in strokes gained tee-to-green but the really good news is on the greens.

Grillo has often cut a frustrated figure with the putter but this season he is 38th in strokes gained. Combine that with a player who averages 70% of GIRs and we should have a winning cocktail.

A course record of 55-24 is moderate but was on for a top-10 finish before falling back on Sunday last year. He’s playing well and a good each-way bet at 45/1 with Coral paying 1/5 odds and 7 places.
