Colombia Championship Tips: Rod Pampling

Falls into the category of ‘veteran ball-strikers’ who have done so well at the course.

Rod Pampling never really threatened in Panama last week but the bookmakers have eased him in the betting so I’m giving the Australian a second chance.

At first glance the Country Club of Bogotá is a perfect fit. The course normally plays hard and fast and at 8,600 feet the ball flies much further than usual.  This means short hitters aren’t at a disadvantage and strategy becomes important.

If you look at the roll of honour, four of the last five winners were all over 40 years old and Pampling falls into the category.

He was runner-up at the Australian Open in November and is supposedly swinging the club like he did in his heyday. At 40/1 (Bet365) he is a good each-way bet.
