CJ Cup Tip: Emiliano Grillo

Not shown much in second half of 2017 but a classy ball-striker who has enjoyed good results in Asia before.

A new tournament, on new course, with a limited field doesn’t exactly set the pulses racing and with live coverage for UK views requiring unusual viewing hours i’m not brimming with enthusiasm.

Having said that i’m going to have a small wager on Emiliano Grillo returning to some sort of form. The 25-year-old hasn’t enjoyed the best of seasons, with zero top-10s since the Arnold Palmer in March.

However, he’s been a bit better in the last couple of events and for the next season is actually in the top-15 for strokes gained off the tee and putting. Two events isn’t a reliable sample size but in betting we need to take a risk to be rewarded.

Grillo is a recent PGA Tour winner and his elite ball-striking has seen him go well in Asia before. Last year he tagged together top-20 finishes in the CIMB Classic and HSBC Champions and he’s a big enough price on classy back form with William Hill paying 6 places at 1/5 odds.
