China Open Tips: Lucas Bjerregaard

Excellent record in Asia and finished T3 last year. Three short par-4s and four par-5s play to his strengths.

Lucas Bjerregaard gave us a good run for our money in the China Open last year, eventually finishing T3 and although he is slightly shorter this time round he’s still a fair price considering he has shown his hand at the Topwin Club.

The big-hitting Dane can be a frustrating player to follow because of propensity to throw in the odd horror shot/round but his record in Hong Kong and China is 24-5-15-14-2-3-MC-3-53. If you throw out his results at the Shenzhen International it becomes 24-5-17-2-3-3 and suddenly he rates as an excellent prospect.

So far, this season he is 7/8 cuts made with a best T11 at the Qatar Masters. This week’s course should suit, there are four par-5s and three short par-4s and if the radar is working off the tee he could make plenty of birdies.
