Byron Nelson: Peter Uihlein

Suffered with injuries and poor form in recent years but won on the Korn Ferry Tour three starts ago and has made last five cuts on the PGA Tour. Finished T5 at 2019 Byron Nelson.

The Byron Nelson has a slightly different look and feel this year. For starters it is providing the warm-up for the US PGA Championship and secondly it’s moved to TPC Craig Ranch for the first time in it’s history. The shuffling of the deck could produce a surprise winner and i’m looking beyond the PGA Tour for a contender.

Peter Uihlein is in the field on the back of his T5 finish at the last edition of the Byron Nelson, way back in 2019. The big hitting American is still trying to rebuild his career after several injury hit seasons but i’ve been impressed by his results on the Korn Ferry Tour with a win, a second place and a further top-20 in his last four starts.

When he’s crossed over to the PGA Tour, usually in alternate events, he has also held his own; Uihlein has actually made his last five cuts on the PGA Tour. He arrives as potentially one of the dark horses in the field because at his best he’s very capable.
