British Masters Tips: James Morrison

Grew up on courses of a similar ilk to Woburn and arrives on the back of two consecutive top-15 finishes.

The British Masters returns to the European Tour with Woburn the host for the first time since 2002.

Played on the Marquess, it is a typical southern England course with undulating fairways meandering through a forest of pine, beech and oak.

The challenge is not dissimilar to that of other signature courses in the southeast, like Wentworth and St. George’s Hill.

That brings me onto my first selection, James Morrison.

The 30-year-old is a member at St. George’s Hill and spent his formative years playing courses just like Woburn.

After winning the Maderia Islands Open in 2010 his career rather stalled, due to a combination of illness and a loss of form but 2015 has been his renaissance year.

Morrison won the Open de Espana, was runner-up in the Open de France and finished T11 at Wentworth.

He arrives at Woburn after T12-T13 finishes and should go well at 55/1 (Betfred) in what is a local tournament for him.
