British Masters Tip: Shane Lowry

Playing better than results suggest in 2017 and looked good on his last couple of starts. Excellent record on classic English courses.

It’s been a tough twelve months for Shane Lowry results-wise with just two top-10s in 2017 but the Irishman has been slightly unlucky. He finished 127th in the FedEx Cup but ranked 59th for scoring average and that has been the story of his year.

Good play has been undone by one or two bad swings, the BMW PGA being the perfect example when he let a winning position slip on the back-9 at Wentworth. It won’t take much for Lowry to return to his best and there have been positive signs from his last two starts, a T7 at the Wyndham and a good run in Portugal.

An adept player of fine British courses, he has four top-10s at Wentworth and was runner-up at the 2015 British Masters. This will be his first look at Close House and the Lee Westwood Championship Colt course but on paper it looks a good fit and he should go well with 7 places at 1/5 odds.
