Bridgestone Invitational Tips: Adam Scott

Beaten by the draw at the Open Championship. The 2011 winner will be keen to put matters straight.

Rory McIlory played terrifically en route to victory at Royal Liverpool but I fancy Adam Scott would have run him close with a better draw.

The early starters on Thursday had the best of the conditions, 15 of the 18 players who broke 70 had morning tee times.

If this wasn’t enough they also got the best of the weather when the draw switched round on Friday, with late starters benefiting from a drop in wind.

This ultimately had a big effect on the leaderboard because of the top 22 finishers, only five came from the late/early tee times on Thursday and Friday.

Late/Early Tee Times Final Finishing Positions
T5 Adam Scott -12
T9 Shane Lowry -10
18 George Coetzee -4
T19 Keegan Bradley -3
T19 Chris Kirk -3

Adam Scott finished top of this mini leaderboad and was only five shots behind McIlroy by the end of play on Sunday.

With a better draw, the world number one would have finished very close to McIlroy and therefore doesn’t deserve to be double his price at Firestone.

Scott is a previous course winner and I expect he will be keen to strike back quickly after his misfortune in Liverpool. At 12/1 (Betfred) he is a rock solid each-way bet.
