Brasil Champions Tips: Hao Tong Li

Immensely talented young golfer who has four professional wins to his name already and finished T7 at the HSBC Champions event.

There’s plenty of fresh new talent on the web.com tour this year but there won’t be many with a higher level of expectation than Hao Tong Li. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a blistering start to his career and could turn China into a nation of golf aficionados.

There’s obviously a long way to go but Li won the PGA Tour China Money List in 2014 whilst still a teenager. A four-time winner in his home country he needs to prove his game travels and this is where the web.com tour provides invaluable experience.

Li registered seven top-25s last season including a T53 at the Brasil Champions and promises to be better on his second look at these courses. A terrific driver of the ball (ranked 5th in total driving last season) there aren’t many weaknesses tee-to-green he just needs to improve his putting (121st in putting average) but that should come as he gets used to the greens and different grasses on tour.

In three starts on the web.com tour this season he has finished MC-T60-T35 but he’s also acquitted himself well on the PGA Tour scoring well despite missing the cut in Puerto Rico and Hawaii. His T7 at the HSBC Champions (a WGC event) gave us a glimpse of his talents and it won’t be long before he makes his mark again.
