Brasil Champions Tip: Alexandre Rocha

Well placed at the halfway stage last year and will be desperate to do well in his home event.

Alexandre Rocha will have plenty of support in Brazil this week; he is a former national champion and has won five times in his home country. If that wasn’t enough he was also born in Sao Paulo, the tournament venue!

This is an event Rocha would dearly love to win and he gave it a good go last year. Opening rounds of 67-68 put him in contention but he couldn’t get anything going over the weekend and slipped back to finish T29.

The 36-year-old started the season well with a T21 finish in Colombia. I wouldn’t be too concerned with a missed cut in Chile, when he couldn’t undo the damage of a poor opening round.

At 50/1 (Stan James) in his home event, Rocha is a sound each-way investment.
