BMW PGA Tips: Shane Lowry
Has four top-12 finishes in seven starts at Wentworth and playing better than recent results suggest.
Shane Lowry broke into the top-25 of the world rankings after finishing second at the US Open but the manner of the defeat seemed to hit him hard because his results immediately tailed off. The Irishman has slipped to number 72 in the world but expect him to work his way up the rankings in the coming months.
Lowry’s best finish of the season is a T14 at Pebble Beach but overall his play has been better than his results. Ranking in the top-30 on the PGA Tour for strokes gained off the tee and birdie average is a fair effort and it won’t be long before these stats translate into good finishes.
Lowry was runner-up at the BMW PGA in 2014 and his record at Wentworth reads 65-4-68-12-2-6-MC. He flies under the radar this week but on a course, he likes he shouldn’t be 50/1 with Bet365 paying 6 places at 1/4 odds.
