BMW PGA Championship Tips: Shiv Kapur

A huge price for a player ranked 12th in scoring average on tour. Finished T31 on his last visit to Wentworth.

A star-studded cast has assembled for the BMW PGA Championship but the tournament has had its fair share of surprise winners.

Simon Khan and Scott Drummond are two such names and I wouldn’t discount the unheralded outsiders.

Local-lad Seve Benson is one player that caught the eye at 300/1 but he’s just been edged out in my staking plan by Shiv Kapur.

It’s over eight years since he burst onto the scene by winning on the Asian Tour but he’s never translated that form to Europe until now.

Kapur won twice on the Challenge Tour last season including the prestigious Tour Grand Final in Dubai, eventually finishing fourth on the money-list.

Aged 32 and entering his prime, he can now make his mark on the European Tour.

Kapur is yet to register a top-10 finish this year but he has been extremely consistent and ranks an impressive 12th for scoring average.

This will be his sixth visit to Wentworth, with a best finish of T31 in 2011; a result that could have been so much better but for a 6-5-6-5 finish on Sunday.

At 300/1 (Betfred) he’s outstanding value with ¼ odds for a top-6 finish.
