BMW International Open Tips: Tjaart Van Der Walt

BMW International Open Tips: Tjaart Van Der Walt

Enjoying a good season on the Sunshine Tour and finished T29 in 2013 despite playing the easy holes poorly.

South African golf enjoyed a good week at Chambers Bay, providing three of the top-10 and although Tjaart Van Der Walt couldn’t get in on the act, he will have learnt a lot on his second major championship appearance.

The 40-year-old isn’t a prolific winner by any means but he is enjoying a good year on the Sunshine Tour with three top-11 finishes in his last five starts.

Playing on the European Tour is a step up in class but Van Der Walt has good memories of Golfclub München Eichenried having finished T29 in 2013.

The encouraging element of his performance was he managed a good finish without playing the easy holes particularly well.

Van Der Walt was only 4-under across the five easiest holes and a slight improvement could see him rocket up the leaderboard. At 250/1 (Skybet) he is worth the risk.
