Barracuda Championship Tips: Jhonattan Vegas
Ranked ninth on tour for GIRs and just needs a half-decent week on the greens.
Jhonattan Vegas produced one of the most frustrating final rounds from a punting perspective when finishing fifth at the Zurich Classic, costing this writer several £000s!
It’s taken a while to get over that near miss but it served as a reminder that Vegas is capable of still being competitive at this level. The 31-year-old has had his fair share of injury problems but he’s a previous tour winner and is getting back to his best.
Ninth on tour for GIRs, he’s creating plenty of scoring opportunities but a rank of 99th in birdie average suggests he’s not taking them. The third round at TPC Lousiana was a classic example, when the putter went cold his frustration quickly grew evident.
Vegas only needs a reasonable week on the greens to compete and having finished T47 last year when struggling with his game, we can expect a massive improvement at 100/1 (William Hill).
