Barracuda Championship Tips: Carlos Ortiz
Shot a closing round of 66 at the Quicken Loans National and modified stableford scoring favours attacking players.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record I’m tipping Carlos Ortiz for the Barracuda Championship.
It is not a tournament to get carried away with, there are no obvious winning trends and it uses a modified stableford scoring system.
Having said that, I’m happy to chance the young Mexican at 80/1 (Bet365).
He has made the cut in his last three starts and shot a closing round of 66 at the Quicken Loans National, it was the best round on Sunday despite including a double bogey.
The modified scoring system favours players who make plenty of birdies and eagles and it should suit Ortiz who ranks 23rd for eagles and 65th for birdie average on tour.
