AT&T Pebble Beach Tip: Chris Stroud
Started the year in red-hot form, ranking 10th for scoring average. Could become one of the top players on tour.
After years of fighting his way through Q-School, Chris Stroud might just be ready to reap the rewards. A talented amateur, he never quite translated that form onto the main tour until last year.
He enjoyed a productive 2011, ranking 61st in the FedEx Cup with eight top-25 finishes, thus avoiding the perennial battle to keep his card. The signs are encouraging, especially the way he has started 2012. In three tournaments, he is yet to shoot a round over par, a feat that leaves him 10th on tour for scoring average.
The 29-year-old finished T12 at the Phoenix Open last week, a result that could have been better but for a quiet final round. Good news from a betting perspective as it means he is still off the bookmakers’ radar.
At ease with his status as a professional and entering his golfing prime he looks excellent value at 90/1 with Sportingbet. Back him each way and get ¼ odds for a top five finish.
