Phil Back In The Swing

Phil Back In The Swing

Mickelson professes to be delighted with his swing changes and is currently third in adjusted scoring average. Four-time winner at Pebble Beach.

Phil Mickelson is enthused by changes to his swing and that is translating into results. He has started the year with finishes of T3-MC-T11 shooting over-par only once in ten rounds.

The really good news is found in his statistics. The season is still young so figures must be taken with a pinch of salt but Mickelson is currently 90th in driving accuracy. The first time he has ranked in the top-100 since 2001 and he’s more often found ranked 150th or worse.

Mickelson is currently ranked sixth in strokes gained tee-to-green and third in adjusting scoring average, numbers we haven’t seen since his heyday. It’s not certain he can continue this form but there must be a good chance at Pebble Beach, a venue he’s won at four times.

His last victory came in 2012 and we mustn’t forget this is a player who has won 42 times on the PGA Tour.

With the old swagger back, Mickelson is a good each-way bet at 20/1 with Paddy Power paying 1/5 odds for a top-7 finish.
