Pebble Beach Pro-Am Tip: Dustin Johnson
Has finished in the top-7 in seven of his last ten visits to Pebble Beach. With several bookmakers paying 7 places, it feels like a shot to nothing.
Much as I loath going for the short price favourites in golf, I cannot look beyond Dustin Johnson for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The world number one won recently at the Tournament Of Champions and finished a respectable T9 in Abu Dhabi despite not having his best stuff.
Johnson is a regular winner on the PGA Tour (he has 17 professional titles) and his record at Pebble Beach is excellent. He has seven top-7s in ten visits, winning twice, and with Coral paying 7 places at 1/5 odds it means we would have cashed in seven of those ten years.
Granted the profits are slim for a place but it feels like a bet to nothing with the win the obvious upside.
