Brendon Pleasure Beach

Brendon Todd played Pebble Beach 11-under last year and went bogey free over the weekend. Putter heated up in Phoenix last week.

Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Bradnt Snedeker have all won twice at Pebble Beach in the last decade and it’s the type of event where course form repeats.

For my first pick I’m happy to take course form over current form with Brendon Todd.

The 30-year-old hasn’t done much in the wrap-around season missing five out of eight cuts however he made the weekend at Phoenix and closed with a good round of 67.

That should give him confidence going into a tournament he’s played well before. In five visits he’s finished MC-T9-MC-T45-T10 but last year’s performance warrants closer inspection.

Todd played Pebble Beach twice over the weekend going 36-holes without a bogey and shooting 11-under. He finished the tournament with 89% driving accuracy and hit 83% GIRs. His downfall was a cold putter something he experienced the complete opposite of in Phoenix where he led the field in strokes gained putting.

If Todd can marry last year’s ball-striking with his current hot putter then he could go well at 200/1 with Stan James paying 1/4 odds for a top-6 finish.
