Arnold Palmer Invitational Tips: Pat Perez

Hasn’t missed a cut in his last seven visits to Bay Hill and made the weekend at every tournament in 2012.

Pat Perez didn’t really fire last week when tipped for the Transitions Championship. He managed to finish a respectable T55 and make it 7/7 cuts this season but his driving was too wayward to threaten at the Copperhead course.

It is to his credit he managed to find 65% GIRs despite only hitting 54% of fairways. One of the tours longer hitters, I’ve come to the conclusion he needs wider fairways to forgive the odd wayward tee shot. Thankfully, Bay Hill is more generous in that respect than Copperhead.

This has translated into consistent results at the course. His record at the venue since 2005 is: T38-T40-T4-T31-T28-T34-T44.

Looking at the evidence a weekend appearance is likely, he just needs to find one low round to put himself in the mix. He undoubtedly enjoys the challenge of the course and at 125/1 (bodog), is underrated by the bookmaker. Back him each way with ¼ odds for a top-six finish, only available with bodog.
