Andalucia Masters Tip: Austin Connelly

Playing better than Race To Dubai position suggests. Ranks 16th for driving accuracy and finished T54 on debut last year. This isn't last chance saloon for talented youngster.

Sat 133rd on the Race To Dubai, Austin Connelly needs a big week in Spain to retain his card but regardless of what happens the future is bright for the 22-year-old. Runner-up at the KLM Open last year and with a T14 at the 2017 Open, the Canadian has some eye-catching form to his name, that is without forgetting two cuts he made on the PGA Tour as an amateur.

Connelly’s strength is his accuracy, he is 16th on tour this season for finding fairways, and he’s perhaps unlucky to be so low down the money-list considering he is 55th in stroke average.

Last year he finished T54 at Valderrama but ranked T28 for GIRs and this tight, demanding course should suit his game. His recent form is respectable with a T42 at Walton Heath and a T11 at the KLM Open. He is worth the chance at a big price.
