2nd Oct 2017 | Dunhill Links Championship

Dunhill Links Tip: Tom Lewis

Scoring average is the lowest it's ever been on the European Tour and that will eventually translate into results. Ranked 9th for GIRs on tour.

Since his breakthrough win, early in his professional career, golf has been difficult for Tom Lewis. The young Englishman has spent to most recent part of his career battling to save his card and languishing in the 100s on the Race To Dubai.

Lewis again sees himself down on the money list but there’s been a dramatic upturn in his game. In 2017, he averages 70.76 strokes per round and although that is the function of the events he has played it is a career-low scoring average and 1.32 strokes better per round than last year.

The 26-year-old sprung to prominence winning the silver medal as the low amateur at the 2011 Open Championship and finished third at this event in 2013, so we know links golf is too his liking. A T3 at the Czech Masters last month was deeply encouraging and a triple figure price on a links is too hard to turn down with Betfred paying 6 places at 1/4 odds.
