Dunhill Links Championship Tips: Paul Dunne

Dunhill Links Championship Tips: Paul Dunne

Led the Open at St. Andrews in 2015 and finished T19 in this event last year on his first start as a professional.

Along with the Scottish Open and the Open Championship, the Alfred Dunhill Championship guarantees four days of links golf and past success in either of those three is a good pointer.

For months, I’ve been saying on Twitter that Paul Dunne will win the Dunhill Links and now that we are here I’m sticking to my guns. The Irishman famously lead the 2015 Open after three rounds, that was at St. Andrews the only course they play twice this week.

Dunne turned professional straight after the Open and his first start was here at the Dunhill Links where he finished a very respectable T19. A year on and the 23-year-old has much more experience under his belt.

Sat 110th in the Race To Dubai he is right on the edge of getting a tour card but recent signs have been encouraging with top-20 finishes in the Czech Masters, Made In Denmark and KLM Open.

Dunne’s weakness is still finding fairways but that isn’t a massive issue on links courses, especially at St. Andrews where anywhere left off the tee is safe.  His familiarity with the venues is a huge advantage in his rookie season and this could be the time he makes a winning breakthrough at 150/1 (Betfred).
