Wichita Open Tip: Cameron Champ

Leads the tour in total driving, thanks in large part to his length off the tee but he is also second in the all-around ranking. Inexperienced but a huge talent.

He’s got the name of winner but thankfully Cameron Champ also has the game. The 23-year-old sprung to prominence with a T32 finish at the 2017 US Open and he’s found his feet on the Web.com Tour. On his last outing he finished a career high T4 at the Rust-Oleum Championship but it wasn’t a shock as he’d been trending in the right direction.

Champ is one of the longest hitters on tour (averages 335 yards) but he’s got some fineness because he ranks 11th in GIRs and 47th in putting average. A player who can rip it off the tee and hole putts (hello Trey Mullinax) is a big danger and Champ has enough in his game to sit second in the tour’s all-around ranking. In short he’s a talent and you want him onside.
