Abu Dhabi Tips: Rafa Cabrera-Bello

Plays his best golf in the desert. Finished T4 last year and was an unlucky T9 in the Tour Championship, a tournament he could have won.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello is on my short-list any time the European Tour visits the Gulf and he is overpriced at 60/1 for the Abu Dhabi Championship.

In six visits to Abu Dhabi Golf Club he’s finished T15-T43-7-T48-T23-T4 and last year he might have won but for a lacklustre third round when he couldn’t buy a putt.

The Spaniard generally saves his best golf for the desert. He won the 2012 Dubai Desert Classic, has two third places at the Qatar Masters and finished T9 at the Tour Championship in Dubai, a tournament he might have won with better luck in the final round.

Cabrera-Bello has the length off the tee and if his putter behaves he could go close at 60/1 (Stan James) with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
