McIlroy Overdue Win In Abu Dhabi
McIlroy has finished runner-up four times in the last five years and should be thereabouts again after he hit 89% of GIRs last year.
Betting on golf might be a tricky prospect this year if Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy dominate.
They are joint-favourites to win in Abu Dhabi but course form gives McIlroy the edge. His record at the course is 11-5-3-2-2-MC-2-2 and is long overdue a win.
Last year victory eluded him because he simply didn’t make enough putts. He ended the week ranked first in GIRs (88.9%) but 21st in putts per GIR.
The worry is that McIlroy could again lose the tournament on the greens, especially with Spieth in the mix but his long game is so good we can have an each-way bet to nothing at 5/1 (Stan James).
