Abu Dhabi Championship Tips: Oliver Fisher
Has made 9 out of 11 cuts in Abu Dhabi and has four competitive rounds under his belt unlike many of his rivals. Still has time to fulfil his potential.
It’s been a long time between drinks for Oliver Fisher, you have to go back to the Czech Masters in 2011 for his first and last tour win. That equates to a strike rate of 1/319 but despite having seemingly being around forever, he’s yet to turn 30 so in many respects he is entering his prime.
His best might not be good enough in a field of this calibre but at least he’s got four rounds under his belt after a T38 finish at last week’s SA Open. What I particularly like about the Englishman is his record at Abu Dhabi GC. He’s missed two cuts in 11 starts and his record reads 53-11-37-MC-MC-63-66-37-12-35-23.
He’s a speculating bet but with Boylesports paying 6 places at 1/5 odds he’s worth a small wager at 300/1 in an event that has thrown up surprises in the past.
