Abu Dhabi Championship Tips: Byeong Hun An

Abu Dhabi Championship Tips: Byeong Hun An

Record in the desert is 12-5-13-4-5-4-13, yet flies under the radar with many big names in the field.

The Abu Dhabi Championship might be a good event to watch but it’s tricky to bet in. McIlroy, DJ, Stenson and Fowler take a massive chunk out of the market and although I can’t pull the trigger on any of them, they are going to take up two top-5 places at worst. McIlroy is the most likely winner of the four but it remains to be seen how his back holds up after he complained of soreness at the SA Open.

With that in mind I’m going with just two selections this week, with Byeong Hun An looking the best of the rest.

The 25-year-old had a good, rather than stellar 2016 but there was plenty of upheaval as he spent the bulk of the summer on the PGA Tour with stints on the European Tour at the start and end of year.

An finished the season strongly with a couple of top-15s in Turkey and Dubai and he’s always a player to watch in the desert. If you collate his results in Abu Dhabi, Dubai (Desert Classic and Tour Championship) and Qatar it reads 12-5-13-4-5-4-13.

He’s long enough off the tee, hits plenty of greens and putts well. At 40/1 (SkyBet) that makes him a good bet.
