Wednesday World Cup Double
Things didn't go perfectly for Spain and Uruguay in the first round of matches but they could both make statements of intent against Iran and Saudi Arabia respectively.
Wednesday could throw up a couple of one-sided matches and I’m backing Spain & Uruguay to both win -2 goals in the handicap market at best odds of 6.86/1 with BetFair.
The Spanish actually begin this Group B clash two points behind their opponents after drawing 3-3 with Portugal in a thriller while Iran sucker-punched Morocco 1-0.
But let’s make no mistake, La Roja look like they may be the best team in the tournament and if they can put 3 past the European champions, and 6 past Argentina three months ago, then they can overwhelm lesser opponents.
Meanwhile back in Group A and poor old Saudi Arabia go back to the slaughter house after their 5-0 hammering at the hands of Russia all but ended their competition on Day 1.
Before a ball was kicked everyone would have said Uruguay were the team to beat in the first group and that should remain the case with Cavani and Suarez up top.
The Barcelona striker had a bad day at the office against Egypt but he kept getting chances and we shouldn’t write off a world class talent at this stage.
