USA v Germany Tip: Everyone's A Winner With A Draw

The other teams in Group E have every reason to fear the worst when one particular result here can render their fixture meaningless.

Germany are nothing if not a pragmatic bunch and the fact that they need a point to ensure top spot in Group E leads me to think they will secure that, and nothing more on Thursday. The fact that parity would also satisfy the USA only helps the cause and we really should take the draw at best odds of 9/4 (Bet365).

Arguably the only difference between the sides so far has been that Germany had the benefit of playing against 10 men for more than half their match against Portugal.

However, even with that advantage, the shot statistics are almost identical overall. Germany have had 24 attempts on goal compared to 23 for the States, but Jurgen Klinsmann’s boys have actually had marginally more shots on target (17) than his homeland (17).

Everything suggests that the spoils will be shared in a mutually beneficial outcome here.
