Sunday World Cup Treble

The defending champions and the World Cup favourites enter the fray. It's time for Germany and Brazil back to back, but Serbia can make a statement too.

Sunday sees the bookies’ two favourites enter the competition as we start to see the action hot up.  But Serbia also play, one of my dark horses, so back them, Brazil and Germany in an enhanced treble with Skybet at 10/3.

The Serbians face Costa Rica who made headlines themselves in 2014. I can’t see a repeat this time around for a side who were soundly beaten by Belgium (4-1) and England (2-0) in recent warm-ups but also lost to Hungary and Tunisia in recent memory. The Central Americans are poised to finish bottom of Group E while Serbia battle Switzerland for the runners-up spot.

That’s because Brazil will surely dominate the section and go deep in the competition. Tite has brought the team back together and the array of talent at his disposal is frightening. Crucially, they look like they can defend now too.

Germany probably have the toughest task of our three picks on Sunday and their friendly form has been sub-par. But they are competitive match specialists having won all their qualifiers and Mexico will have to cause a shock to deny them an opening victory. The defending champions are probably the most reliable team in international football so we should be in safe hands.
