South Korea v Belgium Tip: Fancied Europeans To Finally Look The Part

The Taegeuk Warriors may sound ferocious but South Korea are essentially one of the weaker teams in Brazil.

I can see a lot of parallels between this game and Brazil-Cameroon, the match which completed Group A. That looked like the perfect fixture for the hosts to build up their confidence after a modest start, and exactly the same could be said of Belgium.

Marc Wilmots’ boys have six points from a possible six but they could hardly have looked any less impressive considering the fanfare with which they arrived. The Red Devils trailed Algeria until 20 minutes from the end and then relied upon an 88th winner to settle a dour clash with Russia as 1-0.

The reason why I think this match will be more one-sided is that South Korea are a pretty poor team. They needed a goalkeeping howler to earn a 1-1 draw with Russia before Algeria hit them for four. If the Desert Foxes could manage that, then surely the likes of Hazard, Fellaini and Mertens can fare at least as well.

Belgium have been scraping by with late goals so far but I’m backing them to find their rhythm early on Thursday. They are a best price of 17/10 (William Hill) to be leading at half-time and full-time.
