South Korea v Algeria Tip: Desert Foxes Can Show Their Cunning

Algeria over-achieved in running Belgium so close while South Korea relied on a freak goalkeeping error in a 1-1 draw with Russia.

We predicted good things for this Algeria side prior to the tournament starting and they very nearly pulled off one of the biggest shocks against Belgium. Having led for so long, the Desert Foxes will have been gutted to emerge with nothing more than plaudits, but their chances remain alive.

The 1-1 draw between South Korea and Russia was potentially a very good result for Algeria because it means a win and a draw would probably still see them through to the next round.

The bookies still see them as rank outsiders and cynics would point to their one shot on target against Belgium as proof. But having gone in front against the Group F favourites, it was inevitable it would become a siege thereafter. Even so, they looked pretty comfortable until Fellaini entered the fray.

South Korea won’t provide such a physical threat and the Greens can unlock more of their attacking potential on Sunday. They arrived in Brazil off the back of four straight wins and one loss in 13 outings. In contrast, the Taegeuk Warriors warmed up with a 1-0 loss to Tunisia and a 4-0 hammering at the hands of Ghana.

At a best price of 11/5 (Betfred), Algeria can take the points here.
