Nigeria v Argentina Tip: Tight Contest Suits All Round

A draw would be sufficient for both teams to achieve their core aims and Nigeria are yet to concede.

Nigeria are the only team yet to concede at these World Cup finals while Argentina have won twice without impressing whatsoever, with the notable exception of Lionel Messi.

The Barcelona star rescued his team with fabulous strikes against Bosnia and Iran but the only other successful effort mustered by the South Americans was an own goal. All this leads me to think they could labour again and we could see under 1.5 goals in this match at best odds of 14/5 with Ladbrokes.

The match situation lends itself to a draw given that it would put Argentina through as group winners but also take Nigeria with them to the last 16. In other words, so long as it remains 0-0, both sides will be relatively content.

The Super Eagles’ two matches have only seen a grand total of one goal in Brazil and we shouldn’t be that surprised. Three of their six fixtures prior to the competition ended 0-0.

The trend is for tight matches in Group F but with the bookies continuing to give decent odds on low scores, we should take advantage.
