Netherlands v Mexico Tip: Robben Continues To Chirp
With six goals in his last six competitive outings, we should put our faith in one of the stars of the tournament.
With the Netherlands pretty hot favourites to beat Mexico on Sunday evening, the better value comes in backing Arjen Robben to score anytime at best odds of 9/5 (BetVictor).
We have already made money pursuing this option in the group stages but after the flying Dutchman drew a blank against Chile, we seem to be getting tempting odds again. There’s no real reason for it given that nobody scores in every match and Robben came pretty close in Sao Paulo regardless.
The 30-year-old enjoyed a remarkable 5.4 shots per game in the Champions League last season and grabbed 21 goals for Bayern in all competitions. We shouldn’t have been in any way surprised when he tormented Spain in the opening Group B clash but even the ever-confident winger probably wasn’t expecting two goals and a 5-1 victory.
Robben also struck against Australia and at longer odds than Van Persie (31/20 BetVictor) he deserves our backing once more. Mexico have played well but they can’t rely on goalkeeping heroics to save them against all the big teams.
