Ice Man Cometh

The Premier League stalwart has got himself fit and scored in his country's final warm-up match. He will be key in Iceland's first ever World Cup match.

After Ronaldo’s hat-trick on Friday night, the focus turns to Messi on Saturday and he has a tough act to follow in the ongoing battle to be seen as the greatest ever!

But however much attacking might Argentina possess, concerns have to surround a defence which conceded 6 to Spain in March and 4 to Nigeria last November.

I may prove to look foolish, but I’m currently still convinced that Iceland remain underrated just because they are a tiny nation with a lack of household names. I’m not saying they will progress, but they have been a supremely tight-knit unit for several years now.

The Nordic nation topped a qualifying group which included Croatia, Turkey and Ukraine which was one of the toughest in the European section.

A key reason for that success was, as always, Gylfi Sigurdsson. The 28-year-old talisman is a whopping best price 13/2 to score anytime with Betfred against Argentina and after 19 goals in 57 appearances that is good value.

The Evertonian is a big match player and I’d be surprised if he didn’t have an influence on this World Cup from set-pieces or a penalty.
