Honduras v Switzerland Tip: Favourites May Have To Work
The team ranked number six in the world were ripped to pieces by the French so it will be fascinating to see how they respond.
The last round of Group E taught me something about both these teams. Switzerland are not as good as I thought they might be, while Honduras are somewhat better than first impressions suggested.
Due to this combined revelation, best odds of 9/20 (BetVictor) on the straight Swiss victory is not terribly appealing. But it does encourage me to back them to triumph after ‘The H’ have shown some resistance. 17/5 (BetVictor) on ‘half-time: draw - full-time: Switzerland’ does appeal.
It may take the Europeans some time to get the devastation of the 5-2 hammering at the hands of France out of their system here. But they are still a decent side based on their last couple of years and they should get back in their stride over 90 minutes.
For their part, Honduras started very brightly against Ecuador, going into a bit of a shock lead, but they couldn’t sustain the initiative and ultimately lost 2-1. In a game where the Swiss are far more likely to progress. expect them to get the job done, in the end.
