France v Germany Tip: Sticking With Benzema

Was played out of position in France's round of 16 match but should be back down the middle for this quarter-final.

We gave Karim Benzema the big fanfare before France struggled past Nigeria in the last round but nobody would have expected Didier Deschamps to play his main man out of position after he had been so effective in his natural role.

However, the boss looks likely to see the error of his ways for this glamour showdown with Germany so we can still turn a healthy profit by going in again. Antoine Griezmann is likely to get the nod ahead of Olivier Giroud which should see Benzema revert to centre forward.

The 26-year-old has had 13 shots on target so far in the World Cup which is more than anyone else in the tournament. As we outlined before, the Real Madrid star could easily have had more than three goals from his four matches. The 1990 champions looked highly vulnerable with their high back line against Algeria, so we should back Benzema to score anytime at best odds of 21/10 with Paddy Power.
