England Ready For Tentative First Step
None of Brazil, Germany and Spain won their opening matches so hopefully the loony fringe who still think England will breeze their early matches have had a reality check.
Paddy Power are offering money back as a free bet on select markets if England win on Monday night and I can’t see a better option to take advantage than backing the Three Lions with a 1-0 scoreline at 4/1.
This match will almost certainly be a slog with Tunisia having qualified unbeaten and then perhaps more pertinently impressed in recent warm-ups. They beat fellow World Cup sides Iran and Costa Rica, both 1-0, then drew with Portugal. Last week it even took until the 84th minute before Spain broke them down.
The Africans arrive as the top ranked side from their continent and with a clearly accomplished defence.
Southgate’s boys have quietly gone about their business as well as could be expected in preparation and have the greater individual talent. It might just be enough to claim an early victory but thoughts of a thrashing are for people living on a different planet.
*See PaddyPower for full T&Cs but maximum free bet is £10.
