Cameroon v Croatia Tip: Star Returns To Break Deadlock?

Croatia were the victim of poor refereeing against Brazil whereas Cameroon got lucky, but still lost.

Croatia were served up some rough justice against Brazil on the opening day, but luckily they still have time to turn it round and make the last 16. With Mario Mandzukic waiting in the wings, those chances are much enhanced.

The Bayern Munich striker was suspended last week and Nikica Jelavic fluffed his best opportunity in his place and was lucky to see the ball end up in the net anyway off the hapless Marcelo.

Mandzukic is a man for the big occasion having fired three goals in the opening two matches of Euro 2012. He bagged a brace to destroy the Republic of Ireland and then followed that with the equaliser against Italy. Slaven Bilic’s team were unlucky to go out in the group stages having also come up against Spain.

The 28-year-old has just enjoyed his best ever season in terms of goal return (26) despite not always seeing eye to eye with his club boss, Pep Guardiola. He will enjoy the chance to be the main man for his country again and against an average Cameroon side he has every chance.

Mandzukic is a best price of 9/2 (PaddyPower) to be first goalscorer on Wednesday night. We’ll also get our money back as a free bet if the game ends 0-0.

*Paddy Power are refunding all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on group matches (excluding England games) which finish 0-0. Max refund £100.
