Wolves v Barnsley Tip

Wolves haven't won in a while.

New Wolves boss Stale Solbakken inherited a bit of a mess and there were no signs of immediate improvement on Saturday. Meanwhile, Barnsley won convincingly.

Sides relegated from the Premier League are always fancied to take the Championship by storm, but Wolves have done little to merit odds of 4/6 (PaddyPower) to beat Barnsley on Tuesday night. Conversely, the Tykes are tremendous value at a best price of 5/1 with Bet365.

The Molineux club went winless in their final 14 matches of 2011-12 and it was more of the same on Saturday when they were thoroughly outplayed at Elland Road. Leeds only won 1-0 but Wolves were flattered by the scoreline as Warnock’s team bombarded Ikeme’s goal.

Meanwhile, Barnsley were convincing winners in their opening encounter against much-fancied Middlesbrough. Craig Davies grabbed the only goal at Oakwell but the Welsh international striker had numerous chances to put the result beyond doubt.

It would certainly rank as an upset, but in a division where momentum can be everything, the long odds on the away win are too good to turn down.
