West Ham Due Some Good News

West Ham v Middlesbrough Tips: West Ham to win

Middlesbrough are the most shot shy team in the league but have got away with it thanks to an unsustainable conversion rate. Something has to change: more shots or less goals.

It’s been a turbulent few weeks for West Ham but their 3-0 defeat at home to Southampton was probably the nadir and the only way is up.

Slavan Bilic’s problem is two-fold. The issues with the new stadium are beyond his control but unfortunately it coincided with a rapid regression to the mean after they over performed last season. The combination of these two separate issues has seen his team caught up in a maelstrom.

A home game against Middlesbrough comes at a good time because the shaky West Ham defence is up against one of the most inept attacks in the division.

Aitor Karanka’s team has largely stayed out of the headlines but that won’t be for long if they continue averaging 8.6 shots per game, the worst in the league.

A high conversion rate has meant Middlesbrough have picked up points but once that cools they will be in big trouble. Seeing as West Ham have been fighting variance (and each other) this season, it would be fitting if the numbers finally skewed their way.
