Toffees Bad News For Saints

Everton have won 8 of their last 9 while the goals have dried up for Southampton.

Everton know that realistically they need to win their final three league matches, and still hope for an Arsenal slip-up, to qualify for the Champions League. If they do claim three more victories they would surely deserve a top-four spot; that would be 11 wins in their final 12 outings and 78 points!

Southampton stand in their way on Saturday and they are one of the teams near the middle of the table who have run out of steam. An untimely injury to top scorer Jay Rodriguez has contributed to a run of nearly five hours since their last goal from open play.

April has not been kind to Mauricio Pochettino’s boys; a 4-1 defeat to Man City was followed by a 1-0 home loss to Cardiff and a 0-0 draw at Aston Villa. They now face a Toffees outfit who boast the second best defensive record in the top flight and three clean sheets in their last four.

When you put it all into the mix, Everton to take the points at 8/5 (BetVictor) doesn’t look as tasty as the 17/4 (Coral) available on Martinez’s men winning to nil at St Mary’s Stadium.
